Biography

Joe Bachetti graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Arts and Education degree. He is a retired elementary school principal and has lived in Tecumseh his whole adult life. He is married to Brenda and has three wonderful daughters.

He was first elected as Councillor for Sandwich South Township in 1994 and later served on Tecumseh Council in 1999. He ran successfully for the Deputy Mayor position in 2014 and has held that seat for the past twelve years. Joe was also elected Deputy Warden for the County of Essex in 2022 and plans to run for County Warden in 2026.

Joe has received many community accolades throughout his political career such as the Award of Excellence from the Canadian Italian Professional Business Association for Outstanding Community Service, the Ontario Volunteer Service Award for his thirty plus years with the Optimist Club St. Clair Beach, the Rotary Club Vocational Award, and the Ontario Long Standing Service Recognition for municipal officials.

Joe also serves on many local boards and committees. He is the Chair of the Essex County Library Board, Chair of the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, Past Chair of the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation and a Board Member of the Essex Region Conservation Authority and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 261.

Joe also enjoys volunteering for various local organizations and is a member of the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach, Sandwich South Historical Society, Tecumseh Heritage Centre, Tecumseh Pickleball Association and is a member of St Anne Church Parish.

Joe enjoys being active outdoors and playing the accordion during family gatherings.
